Description
This book the author does not present African art under his exotic appearance, but it integrates with the universal art. Knowing all data from the social and historical context in which this original art was born, he explains the genesis and function through the objects presented. Five regions will be considered separately from a stilitique perspective: Sudan, altlantique coast and the jungle, the Guinean coast and its high civilizations, the territory between the Niger and Congo, and finally the Congo. The author retraces the artistic evolution of each of these areas, but it reveals the current problems of African art in which new forms of expression mark the stages of research directed towards a revival.
