Made under his direction at the Museum of Aquitaine, in Bordeaux, in 1997, the exhibition “The spirit of the forest, Gabon’s land” had a summary of current knowledge on the arts and culture of this country. The Ogooué basin is a strong nature of soil, living traditions and amazing arts. More than three hundred objects of culture, those of village life and ancient rites, humble instruments of everyday life and masterpieces of African art evoke the richness and originality of the Gabonese ancestral heritage, Fang to Kota, Pounou of the Tsogho. The representation of this exceptional anthology – a first in France – from the most prestigious public and private collections French, Swiss, Spanish and Gabon, has benefited from the scientific support of the best current specialists – Africans and Europeans – ethnology and arts of equatorial Africa.
