“A Legacy collection of African and Oceanic art of the Barbier-Mueller Geneva at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.” In a collaborative effort between the Barbier-Mueller Museum of Geneva and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, this publication and the accompanying exhibition provides an overview of thirty-seven masterpieces of African art Pacific and in the Barbier-Mueller collections. The different texts, written by a host of experts describe through their eyes, stylistic and contextual history of each work and, three preliminary introductory essays staff conservation department of arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas Metropolitan Museum, explore their importance in the context of a legacy of Western connoisseurs and collection.
