This is the first section of the new N Series from University Prints, Art Primitive, followed later by sections on oceanic and pre-Columbian and Indian art. This section reviews the rock art and tribal art Negro Africa. Egyptian and Islamic arts appear separately in the M Series and the O-IV Series of the University Prints.

This series is designed for educational purposes. The 150 boards in this section illustrate some 240 objects from major collections around the world. The objective is to present the most important art forms of the main tribes. An effort was made to include the views of art in the tribal use and views of architecture.

Each subject is available both as a fact sheet that cheap reproduction for student use. Individual listings can be made of objects grouped on a single board.

A “Overview of African Artwas published separately to complete this series of reproductions. For non-specialists, it provides an introduction to the history of Africa and tribal art and a brief comment on each of the 150 boards.
