Description

For over twenty years the author was interested in primitive arts of Southeast Asia and gathered over the years, hundreds of parts of these regions. Collection Alain Schoffel is currently one of the most remarkable collections of primitive art that one can find. While there are books, some old, it remains that the literature on the subject is quite poor compared to huge amounts of books and theses on the primitive arts of Black Africa, the Oceania and America. The beauty and diversity of this art, which should not be too systematically include Oceanic art, make it a subject that speaks for itself. This book presents a selection of pieces from this collection accompanies a comment written by the author, intended to highlight their aesthetic qualities for each of them, according to his personal perspective. This book is essentially focused on the art and should be, with two hundred quality parts, all unpublished, an instrument of reflection on an art whose place has too long been misunderstood: he became the first book on the primitive arts of Southeast Asia as such.
