This beautiful book presents bronze objects from West Africa: weights for weighing gold, pendants, rings, necklaces, etc. and some particularly rare gold objects from the collection of Max Itzikovitz, one of the world’s largest collectors of African art. The book features more than 150 color photographs and an introductory text on the gold trade and the history of the companies concerned: agni, lorhon, gan, the Ashanti … The historical part is enriched raw photographs taken at the end of nineteenth and early twenty-first and antique tables to better understand this art several hundred years old.
