Description
This catalog, written by Dr. Bettina von Lintig considered one of the best world specialists of traditional arts of Cameroon and shown photographs of Hugues Dubois, was laid out by Alain Weill on the occasion of the exhibition CAMEROON testimony to the exhibition organized by the Galerie Bernard Dulon, Paris, and Friedman & Vallois Gallery in New York. Africa in miniature according to some, populated by a mosaic of ethnic groups, Cameroon is a crossroads of African arts. Masks, caps, pipe bowls, statues and thrones selected by Bernard Dulon reflect this diversity, a remarkable cultural flowering and the extraordinary richness of traditional arts in this country. If the productions of the kingdoms of the west carve the lion’s share, including very large sculptures Bangwa and Bamileke, the Fang people of the south are represented with their famous figures of reliquaries or Byeri and other works populations, Gbadja the Bafo and Doualas. No work has never specifically addressed as the wealth of arts of Cameroon. This publication is in the public‘s growing interest in primitive art.
