This reference book includes a large number of reproductions of historical documents and field photographs taken by Claude Truth during trips to Africa in the 50’s is exceptional and can be considered as a true art book. Truth collection – From 1920 to 1980, Pierre and Claude Vérité were collected primitive art, in parallel with their merchant activity with the Crossroads Gallery. Long remained unknown to the general public, this very discreet collection includes treasures finally accessible to all. Several objects are masterpieces recognized by experts published in the literature. Some prestigious sources, that belonged to famous people such as Carl Einstein, Paul Guillaume, André Breton, Pierre Loeb, Tristan Tzara, Charles Ratton, etc … Located in the heart of the Montparnasse district, Pierre and Claude Vérité merchants were also many artists of the twentieth century, such as Picasso, Vlaminck, Jacques Lipchitz, etc. They contributed to the creation of prestigious collections: Helena Rubinstein, Joseph Mueller, Paul Chardoune, Edward J. Robinson … Similarly, in the 50 years they were the initiators of African and Oceanic art exhibits landmark . Many of their items were featured in the most important international events.
