Still little known, the great sculptor Hemba found here its importance for the knowledge of African arts course, but also because it helps clarify many obscure points remained the political, social and economic societies that the have occurred. One hundred and twenty significant sculptures mostly unpublished to date have been carefully selected and analyzed so as not to leave out any valuable information that can provide these privileged and unknown witnesses. Art book, it focuses not just the aesthetic value of the works studied with precision and sensitivity, but also technical anonymous artists and workshops that we have inherited. parallel, the author has collected on the ground the evidence of the oral tradition, re-read the stories of travelers, and studied the territorial administration archives.
