Description
Through this study the author, Daniel P. Biebuyck, shares his vast knowledge of the Lega, a company whose spiritual intensity brand so strongly all their works in relation to their rites, the simplest object most valuable sculpture. To realize the value of the pieces in this book, it is necessary to return the Lega art in the context of the institution that gives it its meaning and its beauty: the combination of “Bwami”. We note at the outset that we do not know here describe the variety of rituals “Bwami” or multiple variants that it had in the vast region occupied by the Lega. The data available in this introduction mainly concern Lega southern and southwestern Zaire, where the “Bwami” had reached its greatest development before being banned by the colonial authorities.
