This book is the result of nearly two years of research work, including more than half spent on the ground in Africa. All published material only from the author’s own research Ziedonis Ligers (Research Scientist at the National Center for Scientific Research). Information about these artifacts were collected alive and for technical reasons only a small choices can be delivered to the public and to the extent that they contain only ethnographic information. (Unless otherwise indicated, vernacular names are those Sorko language). The sculpture represents only one aspect of the Nigerian art. To give it its rightful place, we must never forget that the creations of other genres of Nigerian art – architecture, wall painting, basketry, leatherwork, weaving, pyrography, ceramics, metalwork, jewelry, jewelery we attested aitres a multitude of masterpieces, no less impressive.
