The beautiful photographs of Guy Le Moal presented here are completely new. They were taken during the celebration of religious ceremonies bobo entered into exclusively insiders. They help restore the substantial part of “life” masks made of leaves and the most sacred fibers, the ephemeral nature will never be displayed on the museum walls. Recruited by Théodore Monod, Director General of the French Institute of Black Africa in Dakar to IFAN founded a center in Ouagadougou in Upper Volta (now Burkina Faso) that will lead to independence in 1960 Guy Le Moal discovers his arrival in Africa bobo people and masks that captivate. His thesis on Bobo was published in 1980 by ORSTOM. Meanwhile, he was seconded to the CNRS in 1963 where he continued his activity until 2004 in the laboratory “Systems thinking in black Africa“.
