Description
This collection of Mossi Fertility doll was held in Burkina Faso by Jacques Lamalle then presented for sale in order to finance actions in Burkina Faso NGO Children of the World [Here is one case too rare, where most of the value of African art will return to the continent]. Mossi dolls, called “biga dolls” are both works of art, from those that common sense first be characterized by beauty. But these works of art, as is always the case in Africa, have not been created to satisfy aesthetic requirements, yet very present. They also carry a powerful symbolic sense, a very specific meaning: fertility statuettes, they are responsible to give to girls and young women a taste of motherhood.
