This catalog illustrates the exhibition “Royal Arts of Cameroon” pays homage to the artists of Central Africa and presents a selection of objects of exceptional quality ranging from beaded thrones, beds and horns carved up the terracotta chiefdoms highlands of West Cameroon. Pipes and bronze necklaces Bamum alongside statuettes, not carved doors and the Cross River crests dance. Statuary in general, and the famous masks Bangwa and Douala occupy the center stage of this collection. Some pieces borrowed Mabéa peripheral societies, Chamba and Gbaya allow visitors to compare the works of various schools of production in the region. However modest it claims to be, this exhibition of fifty of rare items provides useful pieces of information to research on the history of art in Africa.
